A Word of Invitation
Dear Door Creek Church Leadership and Missions Committee,
We greet you in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. With grateful hearts we invite Door Creek Church to partner with us and to consider adopting Solace Education Center & Gospel Ministry as a missionary work of the church.
Our vision is larger than a school building or a classroom schedule. We long to see transformed lives—children and families who know Jesus Christ, grow in discipleship, and become agents of hope in Kilifi and beyond.

This proposal shares our mission, the community we serve, what God has already enabled, and the specific ways we ask Door Creek to walk with us in prayer, partnership, and practical support.
1. Our Mission
Solace Education Center & Gospel Ministry exists to:
- Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ
- Make disciples among children, youth, and families
- Educate children with Christian conviction and academic care
- Strengthen families in faith and hope
- Equip leaders for faithful pastoral and church ministry
- Serve the vulnerable with compassion rooted in the Gospel
- Build a sustainable, Gospel-centered ministry for the long term
Five ministry areas
- Evangelism and discipleship — proclaiming Christ and helping people follow Him
- Christian education — schooling shaped by biblical truth and loving instruction
- Church planting — gathering a Bible-believing congregation and growing toward a permanent church home
- Pastoral and leadership training — equipping local leaders for Gospel ministry
- Compassionate outreach — feeding programs, care for the vulnerable, and practical love in Jesus’ name
2. The Community We Serve
Kilifi and the wider coastal region carry deep spiritual and social challenges. Many families live under the influence of traditional practices, animism, and fear of witchcraft. The elderly are sometimes persecuted. Poverty, hunger, child labor, early marriage, limited educational opportunity, spiritual fear, lack of discipleship, and false teaching weigh heavily on households. Some families manage on roughly one meal a day.
We do not minimize these hardships—and we do not believe programs alone can heal them. The answer is Jesus Christ. Education, feeding, and training matter because they open doors for the Gospel and for lives restored in Him.
3. What God Has Enabled
By God’s grace, Solace now serves approximately 350 children, with 28 teachers and 5 support staff. Many of our students come from families under real hardship.
On Sundays our congregation gathers in the school dining hall. We thank God for that space, and we hold a clear vision for a permanent church facility—a center for preaching, worship, evangelism, discipleship, children’s and youth ministry, pastoral training, counseling, outreach, and missionary training.
Background note
Solace began in January 2015 with about 100 children. In later years partners (including the Ipsos Foundation as a major funder) helped establish permanent classrooms and related facilities. More timeline and regional context: Our Story & Impact.
4. Education as a Gospel Platform
Christian education is not a side project for us—it is a platform for the Gospel among children who are precious to Christ.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
Poverty remains a barrier to schooling, materials, meals, and hope. Sponsorship and partnership help remove that barrier so children can learn, eat, and hear the Word of God.
5. Feeding & Vacation Bible School
School feeding is part of daily care. On school days children typically receive tea or porridge around 10:00 a.m., lunch around 1:00 p.m., and a snack around 4:00 p.m. (Monday–Friday).
During school recesses we also pursue Vacation Bible School (VBS) and similar gatherings: Bible teaching, prayer, fellowship, worship, food, recreation, and a safe environment where children encounter the love of Christ.
6. Our Gospel Vision
We ask God for fruit that endures:
- Evangelize children, youth, and families with the Good News of Jesus
- Establish a Bible-believing church as a lasting Gospel presence
- Train pastors and Christian leaders for faithful ministry
- Disciple children in biblical truth
- Strengthen families in Christ
- Teach the Word clearly and lovingly in school and congregation
7. Why Door Creek?
We believe Door Creek shares the heart of the Great Commission—to make disciples of all nations. We invite partnership that includes prayer, missionary support, child sponsorship, education and feeding, church planting and construction, pastoral training, evangelism, VBS, short-term teams, children’s and youth ministry, Bibles and teaching materials, teacher development, outreach, and leadership development.
This is not a one-time project ask. It is an invitation to walk with us as missionary partners.
8. Child Sponsorship
Child sponsorship is a primary way individuals and groups can sustain daily care for students at Solace.

Sponsors join a child’s story with prayer and tangible provision—not merely a payment.
9. Sponsorship Opportunity

We invite Door Creek members and friends to begin with one child, ten children, a classroom, or by introducing others who may share this burden before the Lord.
10. Immediate Need
Approximately $2,470
This near-term amount addresses urgent operating gaps so teaching, feeding, and Gospel ministry can continue without interruption while longer-term sponsorship and missionary partnership grow.
11. The Greater Vision
Education opens a door. Through that door we proclaim Christ, gather a church, train leaders, and care for the vulnerable. Christ is the center—not the building, not the program, but Jesus Himself.
12. The Challenge
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” — Matthew 9:37
The need in Kilifi is great. Workers and partners who will pray, give, visit, and stay engaged are few. We ask Door Creek to consider whether the Lord is calling you into this harvest field with us.
13. Partnership Request
These are our specific requests to Door Creek Church:
- Adopt us as missionaries — recognize Rev. George Yohana and Priscillah Masha as Door Creek missionary / ministry partners in Kilifi.
- Provide regular missionary support that sustains Gospel ministry month by month.
- Sponsor children at $65 per child per month.
- Partner toward a permanent church facility (the congregation currently meets in the school dining hall).
- Support pastoral and Christian leadership training.
- Support evangelism, discipleship, and community outreach.
- Send short-term mission teams to serve alongside the local ministry.
- Support feeding and educational programs for children from economically vulnerable families.
- Provide Bibles, discipleship resources, and Christian teaching materials where appropriate.
- Pray regularly for wisdom, protection, provision, open doors, faithful leadership, and Gospel fruit.
- Connect Solace with other Bible-believing churches and friends who share this vision.

14. Accountability
We are committed to open communication with Door Creek regarding:
- Ministry activities and Gospel outreach
- Child sponsorship stewardship
- Use of funds and faithful stewardship
- Church development and facility progress
- Prayer needs
- Testimonies of God’s work
- Goals and next steps
We welcome questions, visits, and ongoing relationship with the missions committee and church leadership.
15. Invitation to Visit
We warmly invite Door Creek teams and visitors to come to Kilifi for:
